  • Describe your research

We know from studies in mice that gut bacteria are important for normal brain development and that the time during pregnancy and early life is the most important for both brain and bacterial development. So I will be looking at the composition of gut bacteria of the mother while she is pregnant and the infant when it is 1 month old and seeing what species might be particularly important to brain development of the child.

  • Do you have a mentor or role model?

I currently don't have a mentor, but I am in the process of looking for one. I think they are great and a very important part of your growth and development. I do however have many role models which I admire.

  • How does your role model inspire you?

The qualities in my role models that I admire most is there ability and generosity to share their knowledge with others.
