Women in Science Parkville Precinct (WiSPP) is a grass roots initiative that puts retention and progression of women in science high on the agenda in our precinct.

Since its inception in 2014, WiSPP has implemented a range of activities and initiatives aimed at both increasing the retention of women in their science careers and lifting the number of women in senior leadership and decision making positions.

In 2016, WiSPP collaborated with the five WiSPP institutes to develop an agreed set of metrics and have now collected baseline data from each institute. The data confirms that women are still underrepresented at senior levels in the Parkville Medical Research Institutes. WiSPP works at a number of levels to better understand and address this issue.

Our programs and change initiatives are aimed at the individual, institute, precinct and system level.
