The Women in Science Parkville Precinct (WiSPP) initiative is a grass roots initiative that has put retention and progression of women in science high on the agenda in our precinct.

The Medical Research Institutes are vital to the future of science and innovations in this country and members of WiSPP believe we have a responsibility to show leadership in achieving cultural change in the science sector that allows more women to excel in science.

Since its inception in 2014, WiSPP has implemented a range of activities and initiatives aimed at both increasing the retention of women in their science careers and lifting the number of women in senior leadership and decision making positions.  WiSPP’s approach is twofold – top down (systemic change activity) and bottom up (learning and development activity), we are working across the institutes as well as across sectors to promote positive change towards gender equity.
