Grants Mentoring Program

Supporting Our People

Equal parts mentoring program, networking and skill development, the Grant Mentoring Program is an opportunity for early to mid-career women to learn from other women who are established in their field. In 2021 we will continue to support women researchers develop the skills and capacity to navigate the grant application process.

Evaluation of the 2018 program demonstrated that:

  • 88% of participants stated the program had enhanced their understanding of the necessary steps in preparing to write grants.

  • 84% of participants stated they had both increased confidence in communicating their science with potential cross-disciplinary collaborators.

  • 80% of participants stated the program had enabled them to connect with peers and senior researchers across the precinct.

The program provided access to an incredible group of senior researchers. I was amazed at how beneficial it was to get advice and feedback from researchers who work in such a completely different area to me, and yet could provide incredibly helpful and relevant advice! Being female-only really helped to provide a ‘safe’ space where we could all be honest in our communication. Creating a relationship with a senior researcher/mentor with who I hope to have an ongoing relationship with, has been invaluable.
