Formed in 2014, we are a grassroots-driven Australian not-for-profit organisation based in the Parkville Precinct in Victoria.
We are passionately committed to improving workplaces and transforming the systems that limit the diversity of leadership in medical research.
“Why aren’t you doing more?”
‘“Why aren’t you doing more?” was a challenge thrown at all of us attending a meeting about gender equity. It made me think about what could be done beyond my personal efforts and Institute efforts for change in this complex space. By chance, I’d been introduced to the concept of Collective Impact from Stanford in a different context, and the light bulb went on. The Collective Impact Framework helps tackle deeply entrenched and complex social problems. It seemed perfect for the problems facing women in medical research. With seed backing from The Trust Company, WiSPP was born.”

WiSPP brings together a community of advocates and enhances their capabilities to lead and support cultural change in medical research.
Since our inception over 60 volunteers from the five WiSPP institutes have participated in the design of our programs and change initiatives.

Our Committee Members
Since our inception, WiSPP has worked with over 100 volunteers from across our five institutes in Parkville who have contributed to the development and delivery of our programs. We are currently in the process of reviewing our programs and the committee workings groups needed to support these programs.
